    PURITI Manuka Honey UMF® 10+ - PURITI

    PURITI Manuka Honey UMF® 10+

PURITI Honey products all come with aUnique Manuka Factor(UMF) grade. These range fromUMF Manuka 5+ right up toUMF 28+.

    Unique Manuka Factor (UMF)

So what are the UMF honey ratings and how are they determined?

The UMF rating is a certification provided by the Unique Manuka Factor™ Honey Association. In order to achieve a particular rating, the honey must contain a certain amount of the naturally occurring compound methylglyoxal (MGO), measured in mg/kg. The higher the MGO, the higher the UMF rating. MGO is not the only thing that determines the UMF rating, but it is the most important.

    Methylglyoxal (MGO)

MGO is believed to be the active ingredient that provides the unique properties of Manuka Honey, such as thehealth benefits and other healing properties. A number of studies have been carried out around the world looking at the medicinal properties of manuka honey, with many positive results.

While most Manuka Honey with a UMF 10+ grade will have around 263 mg/kg of MGO, PURITI Manuka Honey NZ UMF 10+ will have 300+ mg/kg. This is because we voluntarily hold our products tohigher standards than required in order to achieve the UMF ratings. When you buy PURITI, you’re getting absolute purity and quality.

    Taste and Texture

Our 10+ UMF Manuka Honey is perhaps the perfect balance of taste, texture and nutritional benefit. It retains that distinctive sweetness of Manuka that isn’t too overpowering, the gorgeous nutty and herbal tones we all love and the gel-like viscosity that makes Manuka so enjoyable to eat straight from the jar. With an MGO rating of 300+, it will also provide you with a plethora of nutritional benefits.

    Nutrition and Health

Thanks to the high concentration of MGO,PURITI 10+ UMF Honey is rich in vitamins and minerals and will contain more of the properties that are believed to contribute to healing and general well-being.

On top of the high nutritional value our products contain, they are also completely glyphosate residue-free. Glyphosate is a herbicide that is used extensively on farms, gardens, streets and parks. There has recently been growing evidence and concern that glyphosate is carcinogenic and can have serious negative effects on our health. This is why we have a zero-tolerance policy for the presence of glyphosate-residue in our products.
